In a standard audiogram, the numbers across the top of the graph start at 250 Hertz ("Hz," or cycles per second) and proceed to 8k Hz (8000 cycles per second), with the following one octave intervals: 250 / 500 / 1k / 2k / 4k / 8k. Every octave -- every interval across the top -- forms a square with every 20 decibel (20 "dB") change going down.

1. Frequency. Frequency or pitch of sound is measured along the horizontal axis of the graph in Hertz (Hz), from 125Hz to 8,000Hz. The higher the measurement, the higher the pitch of the sound. The Audiogram. When your child has a hearing test, the test results will be displayed on a graph called an audiogram (see above).

Two-lines are plotted on audiogram chart. One has a blue color with x letter and another is the red color with the O letter scheme. Understanding the information shown on an audiogram is easy. Let’s look at an example.

An audiogram is a graph that shows the softest sounds that someone can hear at specific frequencies. High-pitched sounds, for example a bird singing or a child squealing, have a high frequency. Sounds at low frequencies have a lower pitch, such as a dog barking or the noise of a lawnmower.

An audiogram represents an individual’s hearing ability by frequency (pitch) and intensity (volume). The softest sounds that a person can hear at a particular frequency is called their hearing threshold.

The audiogram is a graph showing the results of the pure-tone hearing tests. If we were to compare “normal conversational loudness level” (typically 60 dB)
